You gain some, you lose some.

On Friday, Kentucky landed a commitment from Alabama native Kahlil Saunders. On the same day, freshman Wildcat defensive tackle Cavon Butler announced his decision to enter the transfer portal. This weekend, Derek Terry of 247Sports confirmed that Butler isn’t the only UK defender in the portal. Sophomore defensive end Davoan Hawkins has also entered the portal. Terry first reported the news Friday and confirmed it as official on Sunday.

A Hollywood, Florida, native, Hawkins signed with Kentucky over 14 other scholarship offers, including Oklahoma, Miami and NC State.

Hawkins redshirted his first year on campus. In 2019, he saw action in nine games, recording three tackles, including 2 for a loss, one sack, one forced fumble and one quarterback hurry.

A decision to enter the transfer portal does not necessarily mean a player will leave the program, but allows the player to be recruited by other teams.
