Kentucky coach Mark Stoops has heard the stat too much, and he was tired of it. So after Kentucky knocked off Tennessee, 34-7, in Knoxville on Saturday, he let it out.

It was Kentucky’s first win in Neyland Stadium since 1984, the Wildcats’ largest margin of victory in Knoxville since 56-0 in 1893 and their most lopsided victory in the series since 1935.

“We talked about it all week, playing for something bigger than yourself, that was evident,” Stoops said in the locker room, according to an Instagram Live video by LB Jordan Wright. “We hadn’t won here, I’m tired of that fucking shit … ”

The streak was notable for not just this series. It was the longest such streak in major college football. Temple has lost 15 straight at Penn State was No. 2.

Things have turned quickly on Rocky Top. The Vols have dropped two straight after an eight-game winning streak.

Kentucky got two interceptions returned for touchdowns in the second quarter to jump out to a 17-0 lead. Overall, Four Tennessee turnovers — three interceptions and a fumble — were too much for the Vols to overcome. Multiple Tennessee quarterbacks struggled as Jarrett Guarantano was benched after two picks and J.T. Shrout was intercepted on his first attempt by Tyrell Ajian.
