WATCH: Evacuated Marines tour Kentucky football facility, meet with coach Mark Stoops
Many people are being affected by Hurricane Florence, and that includes a group of Marines who were evacuated from their base in North Carolina to Lexington, Ky.
But while they are in Lexington, they’re keeping busy with activities.
On Friday, several Marines received a tour of Kentucky’s football facility and got to meet Wildcats coach Mark Stoops, as well as linebacker Kash Daniel.
Garrett Wymer of WKYT shared a video of the Marines meeting Stoops on Twitter:
Several Marines staying in Lexington after being forced to evacuate their base in North Carolina toured the @UKFootball training facility today. They ran into @UKCoachStoops, who shook their hands and thanked them for their service. @KashDaniel15 also made a point to thank them. pic.twitter.com/905F0S0ohP

The Marines toured the weight rooms, meeting rooms and other areas in the facilities. Their host was Kentucky football director of player development Freddie Maggard, a former Wildcats quarterback who also had military experience, according to Wymer.
Not only did the Marines tour the facilities on Friday, but they will also attend Kentucky’s home game against Murray State on Saturday. It is Heroes Day at Kroger Field, so it’s certainly fitting that these Marines will be in attendance.
