Last week, highly touted Kentucky WR Lynn Bowden complained about his lack of playing time against Southern Miss.

This week, against Eastern Kentucky, Bowden was in the game, but only lasted one offensive play before he was ejected for targeting.

As you can see in the video below, the penalty was called after QB Stephen Johnson took off on a long run. Bowden was flagged for the crack-back block on a defender who was trailing the play:

Though it’s certainly debatable whether Bowden should have been ejected, there’s no question that the block was unnecessary.

The defender was already behind the play, so there was no need to deliver the big hit on the defenseless opponent.
