Many signs pointed to Ed Ingram leaving LSU and entering the NFL Draft. The offensive guard came off a disappointing season for the Tigers overall, and he was widely viewed as one of the best prospects potentially in the NFL Draft at his position.
Ingram’s announcement on social media about is return in 2021 means that LSU will have at least three starters returning for its offensive line in 2021. Coach Ed Orgeron during the season noted that because of the would-be exits of those experienced players, offensive line was a notable priority in recruiting, and the Tigers might need a JUCO or graduate transfer player or two to fill the previously expected gap.
Ingram said after the Florida game that it was the offensive line’s best performance of the season. He said at the time he was in a “neutral state” and considering all of his options. He noted that he could risk injury if he returned in 2021, and that he would talk to his family about it.
Ingram has been a stalwart along the offensive line since he started the final 12 games in 2017. Though he was suspended for the 2018, Ingram has returned to the top form many expected from him throughout his career.
