Last Saturday, LSU junior quarterback Brandon Harris was benched in favor of former Purdue transfer Danny Etling, likely putting an end to his career as the starter under center in Baton Rouge.

It didn’t take long for Harris to do something that will surely spark some speculation with the media. On Tuesday, Harris reportedly followed Ohio State coach Urban Meyer, TCU coach Gary Patterson (along with co-offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie), and Houston coach Tom Herman on Twitter before making his account private.

Harris’ time with LSU has been underwhelming at best. In 14 starts, he went 164-of-312 (52.6 percent) with 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions, averaging 168.1 yards per game while adding an additional seven career scores on the ground. He was removed from the game against Jacksonville State last weekend after another slow start — a time where he needed to come out and have a strong performance, following a hugely disappointing performance in loss against Wisconsin Week 1.

As a four-star prospect and the No. 3 dual-threat from the 2014 recruiting class, Harris was a highly touted quarterback, receiving offers from the Buckeyes and Cougars (but not TCU). While a transfer to Ohio State may not make much sense at this point in time, a program like Houston — which is knocking on the Big 12’s door for possible expansion — looks reasonable, though it did already welcome former Texas A&M QB Kyle Allen during the offseason.

Etling posted line of 6-of-14 (42.9 percent) with 100 yards, a touchdown and a pick but led LSU to a 27-point second quarter after the Tigers were shut out in the first 15 minutes with Harris in the game.

Let the transfer rumors begin.
