Brian Kelly shared what the officials told him after the violent hit on Jayden Daniels.

He told the media after the loss to Alabama that officials reviewed the call, but didn’t feel there was targeting against Alabama’s Dallas Turner. The hit came with 12:54 left in the game.

Daniels rolled over and tapped his right foot on the ground, after it appeared Turner’s helmet hit Daniels under the chin, and he landed on top of Daniels as a flag came in for roughing the passer. Daniels was checked by medical personnel, who felt around his chin for damage.

The hit from Turner knocked Daniels out of the game, and CBS Sports reported that Daniels was in concussion protocol. He didn’t return to the game after a brief return 1 play after he exited. Garrett Nussmeier replaced him.

LSU lost the game as Alabama had a missed field goal, but also ended LSU’s final comeback attempt.
