Brian Kelly probably didn’t sleep much last night after LSU upset Alabama 32-31 in overtime.

Alabama scored first in overtime and kicked the extra point. Meanwhile, LSU scored on the first play of overtime and then decided to go for the win instead of facing another overtime. Jayden Daniels hit Mason Taylor for the 2-point conversion and the win.

It’s a night that LSU won’t soon forget, and it’s further evidence that Kelly is breathing life back into an exhausted program.

Following the upset win over Alabama, Kelly told ESPN on the field that the win over Alabama meant so much for the restoration of the program.

“To just come here and restore the pride and tradition of this program, it means so much. I’ve been welcomed down here, and it feels so good to return the faith and trust they shown me.”

Kelly also shared a moment with his team in the locker room after the game. In the middle of his speech to the team, LSU defensive end Ali Gaye screamed out, “This is why you came here!”

Kelly looked directly at Gaye and responded, “Hell yes!”
