Brian Kelly made a strong pitch for his quarterback, Jayden Daniels, in the senior’s race for the Heisman Trophy.

“Vote early, vote often for Jayden Daniels,” Kelly said to SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum. “I was near Chicago and I know that worked in Chicago for many years. You look at his body of work throughout the season, and there was no single player in the country better than Jayden Daniels, his numbers speak to that.”

In 12 games so far this season, the senior QB has 3,812 passing yards, 40 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. On the ground, he has 1,134 yards and 10 TD rushing TDs.

“His ability to run it, throw it, any time we needed to get a play, or get out of a play, just staggering numbers,” Kelly said. “When you put him up against Joe Burrow, we thought that those numbers might stay forever, I think that puts it in pretty good perspective in terms of the kind of year that he had.”

Daniels and the Tigers (9-3) will await their next opponent as bowl season approaches.

“(Daniels) took the things that he was not good at, and he went to work and he fixed them,” Kelly said. “I think that’s what we underline here, is that players fix things. It’s not coaches. Players do it. What I love about him is he went out and fixed the things he needed to fix.”
