It was reported early Wednesday that star LSU wide receiver Kayshon Boutte would be missing the Tiger’s Citrus Bowl matchup against Purdue. The School simply stated that he would be unavailable, with Boutte having announced earlier this month that he intended to stay in Baton Rouge for another season.
It seems he has changed his mind. Wednesday evening, Boutte announced he would forgo his final season and enter the NFL Draft.
Head coach Brian Kelly released a statement on Boutte’s sudden departure Wednesday evening.
Statement from Brian Kelly:
“We support Kayshon and his decision. He went through a thoughtful process and ultimately decided this was in his best interest. We appreciate all he did during his time at LSU and wish him well.”

LSU and Purdue are both suffering from some star opt-outs ahead of the Citrus Bowl. The boilermakers will be without starting QB Aidan O’Connell, star WR Charlie Jones and star TE Payne Durham against the Tigers.
The Citrus Bowl is slated for Jan. 2, 2023 at 1 P.M. EST on ABC. It will be played at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
