Brian Kelly provided an update on the status of quarterback Jayden Daniels, who suffered a rib injury during LSU’s 49-39 victory over then-No. 21 Missouri last weekend.

“It’s one of those things where, as a coach, you want to be aware of how a QB is feeling and how you move into the week,” Kelly said. “We have captains meetings on Mondays, and he told me that day that he didn’t want anything to be changed up. We didn’t change anything up, and he took all the reps.”

Kelly went on to say that Daniels’ willingness to practice full speed despite the injury sent a strong message to the rest of the team about what it takes to compete in this league on a week-to-week basis.

“I think it sent a really good message to everybody about; you know, there’s gonna be some bumps and bruises and guys are going to be sore, but you have to get through it,” Kelly said.

Kelly closed by saying that, after Daniels appeared to be fairly sore on Tuesday and Wednesday, he looked 100% during Thursday’s practice and that he is ready to go out and play at a high level.

Daniels, fresh off a 389-yard, 4-touchdown performance against Mizzou, will look to replicate that showing when LSU hosts Auburn this weekend.

The game can be seen at 7:00 ET on ESPN.
