Brian Kelly and LSU had a wake-up call on Sunday. Florida State’s offense was tough to handle, especially when it came to the receivers.

LSU lost by a score of 45-24 in the season opener.

Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson both had over 100 yards receiving in the game. Coleman transferred into the program from Michigan State this offseason.

Kelly wasn’t sure if there was much more that the Tigers could have done to slow the FSU receivers down.

“Coleman is a tough matchup,” said Kelly. “Wilson is a tough matchup. I thought we competed there. I don’t know if there was much more else if we could have done.”

This season’s meeting was not as close as it was a year ago. The 2022 edition of the game ended with a 24-23 Seminole win thanks to a blocked extra point.

Kelly and the Tigers will have a chance to reset against Grambling State in Week 2. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
