LSU just landed its fifth commitment of the 2021 recruiting cycle and its second from the Sunshine State as defensive back Dakota Mitchell announces his pledge to join Ed Orgeron’s program.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Winter Park, Fla., native is currently rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports Composite Rankings but you can bet he will soon rise in the next rankings based on his offer list. Mitchell holds scholarship offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia and Clemson.

Despite his most recent visit being Clemson, Mitchell committed to the real playing his college football in the real Death Valley on Thursday.

“First and foremost I want to thank God for putting me in the position I am in today… Thank you to all of the coaches that gave me a chance and opportunity to play at the next level but I have found my family… With that being said, I would like to announce I will be committing to the Louisiana State University!”

The Tigers’ 2021 recruiting class now stands at five overall pledges as Mitchell joins five-star linebacker Raesjon Davis, four-star receiver Deion Smith, three-star defensive lineman Anthony Hundley and kicker Peyton Todd as current commits.
