WATCH: Derrius Guice really doesn't appreciate being called injury-prone: 'Do y'all know what injury-prone means?'
If you missed the news on Thursday, Derrius Guice is back in action in Washington after missing his entire rookie season in the NFL after he tore his ACL last August in the preseason. The former standout LSU back was pleased to be a full participant as the Redskins opened camp this week and appeared to be back to his gregarious form after practice while speaking to the media.
That’s carried over to his latest media availability, where Guice took issue with the notion that he is injury-prone heading into his second season with the franchise.
After being asked about how difficult it was to deal without playing football last season, Guice had this to say:
“That’s my life. The first year in 15 years that I went a year without football,” Guice answered. “So, first time I ever had a detrimental injury like this, that’s taken me away from football. You know, and I’m glad you spoke on that because a lot of people talk about how I’m injury-prone, man, I’ve only had one injury in my career that was big. The biggest injury I’ve ever had was my ACL.
“Yes, y’all heard about hamstring this and that, but that comes from an ACL, not just for me not taking care of myself. How can you call somebody injury-prone has had one big injury? Do y’all know what injury-prone means? That means somebody that has different injuries every other day and cannot do nothing.
“I had one big injury. So man, kiss it.”
