The Redskins appeared to have gotten a steal in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft when the team selected LSU running back Derrius Guice. That belief was backed up this time last year as buzz out of Washington’s camp had Guice pegged as a difference-maker on offense.

Unfortunately, we never got to see Guice on the field for the regular season, as he tore his ACL against the New England Patriots in the preseason and was lost for his entire rookie season last August.

Now he’s back in action as the Redskins take the field for training camp and the running back from Louisiana has no limitations. He was a full participant Thursday in Washington’s latest practice.

“I was ready, you know. I just let people talk and let people do what they do, you know,” Guice said. “Little tweaks, you know, whatever it might be, you know, I’m out here today. I was ready I was a full participant day one — that’s all that matters.”

When asked how ready he will be for the regular season, Guice fired back by saying he’s “ready for game day.”

If Guice needs any help with his return to the field, he couldn’t ask for anyone better to lean on for advice as his teammate Adrian Peterson once rushed for 2,000 yards the season after tearing his ACL. However, Guice wasn’t ready to make those comparisons when asked what he has discussed with his teammate.

“Everybody’s body is different so the same stuff he did, may not be the same stuff that works for me,” he said. “All I gotta say is, you know, he came back the next season and he was ready. It’s the next season for me, I’m ready so we just have to see what happens.”
