Turns out Dominic Livingston is indeed planning to leave LSU this offseason.

The defensive lineman from Texas made that news official on Wednesday as the 6-foot-3, 350-pound redshirt freshman announced he plans to return to his home state. It was previously reported that Livingston had entered the NCAA transfer portal.

Livingston was a three-star signee in LSU’s 2018 recruiting class and enrolled early in Baton Rouge following his high school career at Aldine Davis out of Houston. He was rated as the No. 38 defensive tackle in the nation and selected LSU over Texas A&M and Colorado, among others.

He released the following statement of Twitter to officially announce his decision:

“First off, I want to thank God and my family while helping me make this decision. I want to thank everybody involved with the LSU football program especially Coach O, Coach Meatball and all my teammates. We have a bond that can’t be broken and LSU and Baton Rouge will always have a special place in my heart. However, due to family issues, I have decided to separate from LSU and further my academic and athletic aspirations back home in the state of Texas. I wish the entire LSU family my absolute best in the future.”

Livingston has not yet indicated where he plans to continue his college career.
