Ed Orgeron announced at his Monday press conference that RB John Emery is out for the season because of an academic issue.

Orgeron confirmed that Emery is out because he registered for a wrong class, and is academically ineligible. Orgeron said things could change, but currently he’s unavailable, and it’s out of Orgeron’s control.

Each of the last 2 weeks, Orgeron has given a week-to-week update on Emery, but he said on Monday that he would be out for the season.

“Academics do a great job of communicating with us, we meet with academics every week,” Orgeron said. “That’s all I’m going to say about that, but I think they do a great job.”

Last year, Emery appeared in 9 games, and started 3 times. He was second on team in rushing with 378 yards and 3 TDs, and led all running backs in receiving with 14 receptions for 73 yards. He had 103 yards against Vanderbilt with a TD on 12 carries.
