Ed Orgeron has kept busy since his time at LSU ended, and the former Tigers coach most recently was at Notre Dame where he spent time with the football team and new coach Marcus Freeman’s staff.

“What a tremendous, tremendous university you have here,” Orgeron said. “What a great coach, and a great coaching staff you have. Some of the best players in the country are right here in this room. I don’t know when it’s going to happen, but this staff, this team is going to win it all, you’re going to pick up the trophy. I don’t know when it’s going to happen, I can’t tell you that. How bad you want it? You don’t have to wait for it. Why does somebody else need to be better than y’all?”

Orgeron encouraged the team to use physicality, because other teams fear it.

“I am fired up, I can’t wait to see you guys play,” Orgeron said. “I’m going to be pulling for you guys. But remember this, it’s your team. It’s your program. Fight for it.”

After the talk, Orgeron told the media, including Irish Illustrated, why he made the visit.

“I really, really respect it. I wanted to come up here and I have three sons coaching. I wanted to show them what Notre Dame was and be around. It was the first time I got to come in and enjoy being around campus. I tell you what, going into that stadium going to battle and having great memories – yesterday when we drove up to the stadium to see the locker room, we went right, I’m used to going to the left. I enjoy being here. I wanted to see Marcus and his staff and bring my sons up here. We’re here all week and we’re going to have a good time. It’s fun to be up here.”
