It’s been a tough season for star LSU RB Derrius Guice, who has missed significant time with an undisclosed leg or foot injury.

The SEC’s leading rusher last year got to play against Florida this week, but wasn’t his usual explosive self, running 17 times for 50 yards in a 17-16 win over the Gators.

The Tigers will need Guice healthy if they’re going to get their season back on track, especially with a tough Auburn team coming to town this weekend.

On Monday, coach Ed Orgeron admitted that Guice is still not at 100 percent, but added that he expects the talented runner to play against Auburn:

Coach O said a run late in Saturday’s win over Florida proved to him that Guice can be effective even while battling an injury:

Guice has still put up 364 rushing yards and five touchdowns this year, but he hasn’t been his usual explosive self.

If he shows more burst against Auburn this weekend, LSU has a much better chance of pulling off an upset.
