Just days after LSU’s bowl loss to Notre Dame, the losses to the defense continue to roll in. On Thursday, cornerback Jalen Collins announced via his Instagram account that he would be leaving a year of eligibility on the table to enter the NFL draft in a move many expected.

Collins, a 6-foot-2, 198 pound cornerback, was one of LSU’s better defenders in 2014. He only had one interception, but led the team with nine pass breakups and had 38 tackles, 3.0 for loss. With his size and speed, Collins fits the new mold that many NFL teams have been looking for in cornerbacks.

Collins’ announcement comes a day after LSU linebacker Kwon Alexander announced he would be leaving for the NFL draft, and just days after news broke that defensive coordinator John Chavis was leaving the Tigers to take the defensive coordinator position at Texas A&M.

Several other LSU players are considering leaving early. Three other Tigers applied for NFL Draft Advisory Board grades: defensive end Danielle Hunter, offensive tackle Jerald Hawkins and offensive guard Vadal Alexander. Safety Jalen Mills is also rumored to be considering leaving school early.

LSU has been hit hard by early departures recently, losing 18 underclassmen to the NFL over the last two years.
