Just as Alabama made the game close, LSU quarterback Joe Burrow answered right back.

Burrow continued an electric start to Saturday’s game by throwing his second touchdown pass of the first half with 13 minutes, 3 seconds to go in the second quarter. The score gave the Tigers a 16-7 lead, which was followed by a missed extra point.

Burrow completed his first nine pass attempts of the game for 146 yards and two touchdowns. His first touchdown pass was a 33-yard strike to Ja’Marr Chase less than six minutes into the game.

Then, after Alabama’s Jaylen Waddle scored a punt return touchdown with a little more than a minute to go in the first quarter, Burrow pushed LSU’s lead to nine, throwing a 29-yard pass to an open Terrace Marshall Jr.
