John Emery, LSU running back, reportedly makes decision on 2023 season
John Emery was a fixture in LSU’s deep running back rotation in 2022, alongside Josh Williams, Noah Cain and Armoni Goodwin.
Emery received 76 carries for 375 yards and 6 touchdowns this past season and added 13 catches for 129 yards and 2 scores as a receiver.
As the Tigers prepare for the 2023 season, it appears Emery will once again be part of the running back rotation. Per reports on Tuesday, Emery has not declared for the 2023 NFL Draft and will return to LSU:
#LSU running back John Emery did not declare for the NFL Draft and will return for another season in Baton Rouge, a source confirms. @Sheadixon had it first.
The senior gained 504 yards on 89 touches this fall. LSU will have Emery and starter Josh Williams back in 2023.

Williams is also planning to return for 2023, so the Tigers will have 2 of their top rushers back. QB Jayden Daniels, who led LSU with 885 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns last year, is also returning to Baton Rouge.
Emery was a 5-star recruit in the 2019 recruiting class out of Louisiana. He was the No. 2 running back in the class, behind only Trey Sanders, who signed with Alabama.
