Kaleb Jackson, a 4-star running back out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana (Liberty Magnet), has announced a commitment to play in the SEC.

Jackson chose Tuesday to commit because it’s his mother’s birthday, and he committed to LSU. He’s listed as the No. 6 running back in the country in the class of 2023, and the No. 12 player in the state of Louisiana, according to the 247Sports Composite. Jackson has a reported 22 offers, including the likes the Ole Miss, Penn State, TCU and Southern Miss.

Jackson last season had 2,031 yards on 138 carries with 29 touchdowns. He added 21 receptions for 394 yards and four scores. He was named Class 4A All-state first team, Tiger Bait noted. LSU now has 15 commitments for the class of 2023. Tigers running backs coach Frank Wilson is recruiting him for the Tigers staff.

Jackson also runs track, and according to 247Sports, placed fourth at the Louisiana 4A state meet in May 2021 as a sophomore with a 10.66 100. Also ran a 22.28 200 during Spring 2021.

LSU hadn’t landed an in-state running back since four-star standouts John Emery Jr. and Tyrion Davis-Price of Destrehan and Southern Lab, respectively, in 2019, Tiger Details noted.

The Tigers signed a combined four running backs — out-of-state prep prospects Kevontre Bradford, Corey Kiner and Armoni Goodwin and Penn State transfer Noah Cain — during the past three cycles.
