Kim Mulkey declines to give reason for Angel Reese’s absence
Kim Mulkey would not answer a question regarding Angel Reese’s absence on Friday after LSU’s game against Southeastern Louisiana.
Reese did not suit up for Friday night’s game, nor was she in attendance. It was announced shortly before the game that Reese would not be with the team. Reese was benched for the second half of Tuesday’s game against Kent State in a move that Mulkey called a “coach’s decision.” Reese had 11 points and 5 rebounds in the game.
“You want me to explain why? It’s very obvious Angel was not in uniform,” Mulkey said after Friday night’s game. “Angel is a part of this basketball team and we hope to see her sooner rather than later.”
Reese is averaging 17 points and 10.3 rebounds per game this season.
When pressed on the question, Mulkey made it clear she would not be giving any answers regarding Reese’s absence.
“I’m not gonna answer anymore,” Mulkey said. “That’s it. That’s all y’all need to know.”
A key leader of last year’s championship team, LSU is hoping Reese will be back shortly. The Tigers will play in the Cayman Islands classic next week.

Louisiana online sports betting is officially live in much of the state. Louisiana joined the handful of other SEC football states with legalized sports betting in January 2022.
With the mothers of Angel Reese and Flau’jae Johnson publicly going after each other on social media, there appears to be trouble in paradise behind the scenes of LSU women’s basketball. Hopefully Kim Mulkey puts a stop to it and gets her team focused. They don’t need these kind of distractions during the season.
