Kirk Herbstreit believes an NFL team will be very fortunate to land Jayden Daniels.

The LSU quarterback was voted the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner over the likes of Caleb Williams and Drake Maye, and his NFL future may be just as bright, according to Herbstreit.

The ESPN analyst told colleague Pat McAfree on Friday that the LSU quarterback was “gonna be the steal of the draft,” although Daniels hasn’t officially declared.

Herbstreit added that NFL Draft analysts will fall in love with Williams and Maye, but Daniels is “the guy to look at for.”

Herbstreit added that Daniels’ style of play is perfectly suited for the modern NFL.

“There’s a lot to like,” he said.

Projected to go behind Williams and Maye in the NFL Draft, Daniels showed an ability to throw the ball effectively as well as run during his career at Arizona State and LSU.

Playing a schedule this season that included Alabama, Ole Miss, Missouri and Florida State, the speedy 6-4 Daniels completed more than 72.2% of his passes for 3,812 yards, 40 TDs and only 4 interceptions. He added 1,134 rushing yards with 10 TDs with 8.4 yards per carry.

Williams and Maye are also mobile QBs, though known mostly as passers.

The success of dual-threat QBs such as Jalen Hurts and Lamar Jackson known best for their running ability in college football as evidence that QBs who use their elite running and scrambling ability have become NFL stars.

Herbstreit pointed to the New England Patriots and coach Bill Belichek as a possible team interested in Daniels.
