LSU baseball is heading back to the College World Series.

The Tigers outlasted No. 12 Kentucky Sunday night, 8-3, to advance to Omaha for the first time since 2017. This is their 19th trip to Omaha and keeps Kentucky as the only SEC program to not reach the CWS.

The Wildcats gave it all they had, though. Kentucky took an early 1-0 lead behind a solo home run from Jackson Gray.

But LSU didn’t take long to respond. The Tigers took their first lead of the night off the bat of Cade Beloso, who launched a 3-run shot to right field. Tommy White added an RBI single to make the score 5-1 heading into the bottom of the 3rd.

Kentucky inched its way back into things but still trailed 5-3 heading into the 9th inning. LSU then plated 3 insurance runs to slam the door shut.

The Tigers are the 6th team to punch their ticket to Omaha, joining TCU, Virginia, Florida, Oral Roberts and Wake Forest. Texas and Stanford, as well as Southern Miss and Tennessee, are battling for the final 2 spots.
