A prospect out of New Iberia, Louisiana announced his commitment to LSU on Thursday. He posted about the news on social media.

De’Myrion Johnson committed to Brian Kelly as a 3-star DL from the 2024 class per the 247Sports Composite. He is listed at 6-foot-2, 275 pounds. Johnson is the No. 44 DL and No. 11 prospect out of Louisiana in his class.

Johnson picked the Tigers over the likes of Oklahoma State, Alabama, Auburn, and Colorado among others. Other SEC programs that offered Johnson include Florida, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss.

With Johnson now signed up, the Tigers now have 16 commits from the 2024 class. LSU’s class ranks second in the SEC on 247Sports.

LSU also added a commit from the transfer portal recently. The Tigers gained a pledge from former Marshall safety Andre Sam on May 18.

Kelly led LSU to the SEC Championship game in his first year in Baton Rouge. Kelly picked up key wins over Ole Miss and Alabama in year one.

Although LSU did not take home the conference title, it won its first bowl game under Kelly after facing Purdue in the Citrus Bowl. The Tigers won 63-7 to secure a 10-win season.
