LSU will reportedly be without one of its top defenders for Saturday night’s game against No. 6 Florida.
Jordy Culotta of ESPN 104.5 was first to report that Michah Baskerville did not make the trip to Gainesville. LSU beat reporter Brooks Kubena added that multiple sources confirmed Culotta’s report to The Advocate.
Baskerville entered into the starting lineup in place of Damone Clark after the Tigers’ first four games. The junior linebacker is No. 4 on the team in tackles, recording 44 tackles including 2.5 for loss.
The LSU defense faces a Florida offense that has excelled in the passing game. Gators QB Kyle Trask is one of the top Heisman Trophy candidates, entering Saturday with an FBS-leading 38 touchdown passes. Dan Mullen’s squad struggled on the ground, however, last time out at Tennessee. In a 31-19 win over UT, Florida gained just 19 yards on 17 carries.
Saturday’s game is set for 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT, airing on ESPN.
