LSU suffered a big loss to their offensive line room on Tuesday as Lance Heard, a former 5-star recruit out of the class of 2023, entered the transfer portal according to multiple reports.

Heard was one of the most heralded recruits in the 2023 class regardless of position. According to 247Sports, he was the No. 15 player in the country and the No. 3 offensive tackle. He committed to LSU in Sept. 2022 amid interest from a number of major Power 5 programs.

He received playing time right out of the gate, playing 12 times and starting once. He did not play in LSU’s 35-31 win over Wisconsin in the ReliaQuest Bowl on Monday.

Heard’s entry into the portal makes 14 Tigers players to enter since it opened in December. He is the 2nd player from the Tigers’ 2023 recruiting class to enter the portal in less than a week, joining Denver Harris, the country’s No. 7 cornerback in the class who revealed his decision on Friday.
