A new week, a new starting offensive line. That’s the way it’s been for LSU most of 2016.
In Week 6, the Tigers look to be starting their fourth different offensive line group of the season.
“This season hasn’t been the best for us, as far as guys getting hurt,” RG Josh Boutte told The Advocate’s Ross Dellenger. “We’ve been facing a lot of adversity. We really came together in summer camp. It shows up when one guy goes down and the other guy is ready to go.”
With LG Will Clapp out for Saturday, Garrett “Bruiser” Brumfield will be getting his first start of the season.
“I feel comfortable with him in there,” LT K.J. Malone said. “When Clapp went down, he stepped in there and did tremendous.”
At one time, there was a chance Brumfield could have been playing in Saturday’s game as a Gator. When he was recruited by then-Florida coach Will Muschamp, he considered UF his No. 1 team.
The Baton Rouge native decided to instead play for the hometown Tigers.
“I want to travel the world and see all kinds of things, but I love Baton Rouge,” Brumfield said. “I feel like I can do a lot for my city.”
For more on why everyone knows Brumfield as “Bruiser,” Dellenger’s full feature can be read here.
