LSU WR Kyren Lacy is facing a serious legal matter. WAFB in Baton Rouge reports that Louisiana State Police have issued an arrest warrant.
Lacy is wanted on charges of negligent homicide and felony hit-and-run. The crash reportedly took place on Dec. 17, killing a former Marine and injuring 2 others.
Lacy is alleged to have recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed and crossed the center line to enter the northbound lane while in a No-Passing Zone on LA Highway 20. Lacy was driving a 2023 Dodge Charger.
WAFB shares the following from Louisiana State Police documents:
As Lacy was illegally passing the other vehicles, the driver of a northbound lane pickup truck abruptly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision with the approaching Dodge. Traveling behind the pickup truck was a Kia Cadenza whose driver swerved left to avoid the oncoming Dodge Charger. As the Kia Cadenza took evasive action to avoid impact with the Dodge, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound Kia Sorrento. Following the crash, Lacy drove around the crash scene and fled south on LA Hwy 20 without stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement in the crash.
Lacy, 24, is a native of Thibodaux, Louisiana. He began his college career at Louisiana in 2020. After 2 seasons playing for the Ragin’ Cajuns in Lafayette, he joined LSU ahead of the 2022 season.
Lacy declared for the 2025 NFL Draft in December ahead of LSU’s bowl game. He recorded 58 catches for 866 yards and 9 touchdowns over 12 games for LSU in 2024.
