Major Burns is coming back for another season at LSU.

Burns took to social media on Thursday to announce his return for the 2024 season. Though Burns has played in 33 games over four seasons at Georgia and LSU, the LSU safety has remaining eligibility for 2024 with the NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver.

The 2023 season was Burns’ first time starting every game. In his first-time making double-digit appearances, Burns posted career highs of 93 total tackles, TFLs and 4 passes defended for the 10-win Tigers.

Injuries have limited Burns in previous seasons. He played in 14 total games, making 10 starts, over 2021 and ’22. At Georgia, he made 6 appearances as a freshman in 2020.

Burns’ decision comes as LSU making big changes on defense. Brian Kelly dismissed defensive coordinator Matt House, safeties coach Kerry Cooks, cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples and defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey on Wednesday.
