Malik Nabers snubbed? Social media reacts to Marvin Harrison Jr. being named Heisman finalist in lieu of LSU WR
By Sydney Hunte
Published:
Malik Nabers put together a very strong Heisman Trophy case in the eyes of many across the country.
As Jayden Daniels’ favorite receiver at LSU, Nabers has totaled 86 catches for 1,546 yards and 14 touchdowns. His 14 TDs ties him with several other players for 2nd in FBS while he leads the country in receiving yards.
Daniels — unsurprisingly — is a Heisman finalist, along with 2 other quarterbacks: Oregon’s Bo Nix and Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. And while an argument could be made for Nabers, he was left out of the running.
A WR did make the cut, though: Marvin Harrison Jr. The Ohio State star had a brilliant season of his own, but while he equaled Nabers’ TD output, he was well behind Nabers in receptions (67) and receiving yards (1,211).
Nabers should be in the running for the Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation’s most outstanding WR. But a host of fans across the college football world felt that he should have been a finalist for the big prize.
Here’s just a sampling of that reaction across social media:
No hate to Marvin Harrison, but if we’re being honest, Malik Nabers was the best receiver I’ve watched this year. https://t.co/EAbNstVpgR

If Malik Nabers just so happened to be Jerry Rice's son he would have gotten an invite to New York. #CFBPlayoffs #Heisman

Harrison over Malik Nabers should be a crime https://t.co/KGOdSY1Vq3

Marvin Harrison going to New York is the craziest thing I’ve ever seen. Dude was pretty good this year, not even close to Heisman contention. Go look at Malik Nabers stats and tell me who’s better. Change Marvin Harrison to Marvin Roberts and he’s just a really good reciever.

Malik Nabers – 86 Rec 1,546 Yds 14 TDs
Marvin Harrison Jr. – 67 Rec 1,211 Yds 14 TDs
