No. 1 LSU downs No. 10 Tennessee in front of packed house
The top-ranked LSU Tigers took on No. 10 Tennessee on the baseball diamond on Thursday. Plenty of LSU fans made sure to make it to the game.

The attendance at Alex Box Stadium was a record-breaking 13,068 as the Tigers beat the Volunteers 5-2 in Baton Rouge.
Tennessee scored first in the fifth inning, but LSU didn’t let that stand for long. Gavin Dugas homered to left field to make it a 2-1 Tigers’ lead.

The Volunteers answered back in the eighth, but LSU once again retook the lead shortly after.
Infielder Jordan Thompson eventually broke the game wide open for LSU after crushing a three-RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning. Thompson found the gap between center and right field.

This game was close until the very end as both teams managed to do so with great pitching. Paul Skenes stayed in the game for seven innings while recording 12 strikeouts and allowing five hits.
Garrett Edwards slammed the door shut on the Volunteers with a pair of strikeouts. Edwards pitched 1.2 innings for the Tigers to secure the win.
