LSU’s long nightmare of waiting for quarterback Brandon Harris to develop his talents on the Bayou is over. Following his initial decision to stick it out and finish his career at LSU, Harris announced he would leave the program following his spring graduation. Taking advantage of the graduate transfer rule, Harris has transferred to North Carolina and will be eligible immediately next season.

North Carolina announced the addition of Harris to the football program Friday. Harris made the move official recently by signing scholarship agreement papers with the school.

With the Tarheels facing the departure of last year’s starting quarterback Mitch Trubisky, Harris has a real shot to land the starting job in Chapel Hill for the 2017 season. The challenge of replacing the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft will be a tough task for Harris, but considering the vast philosophical differences between the offense he ran at LSU and the offense he now enters, there’s a chance the former touted high school prospect finally delivers on his massive potential before the end of his college career.

In his three years at LSU, Harris completed just under 54 percent of his passes. He threw for 2,756 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He also rushed for 370 yards and an additional seven scores.
