After he was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, former LSU CB Patrick Peterson has spent his entire career with the Arizona Cardinals.

He’s since turned into one of the best defensive backs in the NFL, and he also returns punts. However, the Cardinals are awful this year, so Peterson could be on the move before the end of the month.

According to a report from CBS Sports reporter Jason La Canfora, the Cardinals are exploring trade options for the former LSU star:

The Cardinals had hoped to compete for a playoff spot this season with a roster largely comprised of players brought in while Bruce Arians was head coach and with the hope that Bradford, with a contract worth up to $20M for 2018, could keep them relevant in the NFC West. But the tenor of this campaign has already shifted significantly to the point where several sources indicated a trade involving Peterson, perhaps the top corner in football, is quite possible by the deadline a little over two weeks from now.

Peterson would likely command a high price tag for any team trying to trade for him, but we’ve already seen the impact a defensive superstar like Khalil Mack has made after being traded from the Oakland Raiders to the Chicago Bears.

Where will he end up? Will the Cardinals actually trade him? Only time will tell.
