At the start of the 2019 NFL season, the Miami Dolphins looked like a prime candidate for the “Tank for Tua” campaign.

However, LSU QB Joe Burrow surpassed Tua in many draft projections, and is now projected to go No. 1 overall to the Cincinnati Bengals in April’s draft.

Still, the Dolphins reportedly would love to land Burrow. Per Pro Football Talk, owner Stephen Ross really wants the Heisman-winning quarterback:

Per a league source, the Dolphins covet LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, the presumptive No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 draft.

Specifically, the guy who signs the checks — owner Stephen Ross — is the one who wants Burrow. It’s unknown at this point whether coach Brian Flores and/or G.M. Chris Grier agree.

The Dolphins started the year 0-7, but finished on a 5-4 run in their final 9 games to fall to the No. 5 overall pick. They do have 3 first-round picks this year, though, so perhaps they could put together an enticing package for the Bengals if they want to move up to land Burrow.
