Tiger Nation is rallying around Joe Burrow, and that includes former LSU great Rohan Davey.

Shortly after Burrow broke Davey’s mark of 3,347 passing yards set in 2001 under Jimbo Fisher, Davey congratulated Burrow in a video released by the LSU Football Twitter account. Burrow entered Saturday’s Ole Miss needing just 150 yards to break the record. Burrow became the record-holder with an 18-yard completion to Ja’Marr Chase in the first half of the game. He finished the night with 489 passing yards, putting him at 3,687 through 10 games.

“Congratulations my man,” Davey said and recalled meeting Burrow last year. “Knew you were going to do great things once I met you and saw how dedicated you were to this program. Man, I couldn’t think of a better guy to break this single-season passing record that I’ve held now for 18 years. Congratulations on your march to the Heisman Trophy, congratulations on your march to the national championship. We, LSU Nation, me, Rohan Davey, we are behind you the whole time, my man. Congratulations again and go Tigers.”

Burrow’s father also tweeted an appreciation to Davey for sending his message: “Really appreciate this class act by Rohan . Our family respects the history of LSU football and you are a big part of it. Geaux Tigers !!!”
