Things aren’t sounding encouraging for Saturday’s game between Alabama and LSU.

The Tigers are currently dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak that head coach Ed Orgeron described as a “very fluid situation” on Monday, as the team was undergoing contact tracing with numerous players in quarantine following positive tests. The situation has their upcoming matchup against the Crimson Tide in jeopardy of being postponed.

And on Tuesday, Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger shared an update on The Paul Finebaum Show that didn’t sound too positive.

“Right now the game is alive, but it seems like it’s hanging by a thread,” Dellenger said on the show.

LSU isn’t the only team in the SEC currently dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak as Auburn, Mississippi State, Missouri and Texas A&M all have been affected this week. Saturday’s game between Auburn and Mississippi State has already been postponed. It’s also possible the Vanderbilt-Kentucky matchup could now be in doubt.

Through the first seven weeks of the SEC season, LSU has only had one game rescheduled. It was supposed to play at Florida on Oct. 17, but that matchup was moved to Dec. 12 due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the Gators’ program. However, the Tigers may be heading toward their second postponement of 2020.

As of now, LSU and Alabama are set to kick off on Saturday at Tiger Stadium at 6 p.m. ET on CBS.
