The 6-foot-3, 228-pound Phillips ranks as the No. 1 inside linebacker prospect in the nation, according to 247Sports. Not only is this addition big due to the fact Phillips is so highly touted, but the Tigers desperately need help at linebacker in this class.

Rated as a four-star prospect, Phillips also ranks as one of the Top 50 overall recruits in the nation.

LSU now has 21 total commitments in its 2017 recruiting class, which ranks as the nation’s No. 6 recruiting class. Phillips becomes the first true linebacker prospect to pledge to the class.
