Tyrann Mathieu continues to keep a strong connection with the LSU program, and the latest example came when he walked 100 yards with Jacob Hester and recalled some of the best memory from his legendary career.

“Outside of any particular play, it has to be the fans, it has to be the atmosphere,” Mathieu said. “The people that sit in these seats, week in and week out. People that support us through the highs and lows. Because I think these people, they matter the most. They are the people that I really want to take the field for, really want to make proud. So I think outside of any particular play, you miss the fans the most. You miss seeing them smile, pouring out beer, just being into the game.”

LSU fans will get to see Mathieu closer to home this season, as he signed to play for the New Orleans Saints. This is his ninth season in the NFL and last season was the Kansas City Chiefs’ nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award.

He’s a two-time Pro Bowl selection, including last year, and was the Chiefs’ Derrick Thomas MVP in 2019.
