There was a lot of really good quarterback play this week and we got a chance to see some really good throws.
One throw sticks out to me the most. LSU quarterback Anthony Jennings threw a fade route to Malachi Dupre in the first quarter to start the scoring.
You really can’t throw it any better than Jennings does here. Dupre ran a really good route and the Alabama defensive back was in perfect coverage.
That really is a lot harder to throw than people think. You have to have enough touch to get it over the cornerback and also enough zip to make sure you don’t throw your receiver out of bounds. It’s even more difficult from the shotgun because it takes longer to get the snap and you have to really work the ball to make sure you have the laces to make an accurate throw.
While Jennings hasn’t been playing the best football all year long, he has shown the ability to make the throws when needed. There was a few other seeds that I looked at, but this is just too perfect of a throw against very good coverage.
It was a throw that many people refer to as “right in the bread basket.” So given all the circumstances, I have to give the seed of the week to Anthony Jennings.
