West Weeks, a freshman linebacker at Virginia who entered the transfer portal earlier this month, has committed to play in the SEC.

Weeks, a Watkinsville, Georgia native, announced his commitment to LSU on Saturday. Weeks arrived at UVA as a 3-star prospect in the 2021 class and in 11 games he made 31 tackles with one sack and 5 pass break-ups. He had 13 offers from Power 5 programs coming out of high school. Weeks shared on social media earlier this month that he received offers from South Carolina and Southern Cal.

Weeks suffered a broken leg during the Cavaliers’ regular-season finale against Virginia Tech on Nov. 27, so his availability for spring practice is unknown, 247Sports reported.

Listed as an athlete recruit coming out of high school, Weeks was the No. 48 athlete, according to the 247Sports Composite. Some of his offers came from Boston College, Minnesota, Stanford, Colorado, Duke, Kentucky, South Carolina, Ole Miss and Louisville. In his senior season he recorded 91 total tackles, one fumble and an interception. He also played quarterback among 6 different positions in high school.
