The LSU Tigers dealt a huge blow to Mississippi State’s NCAA Tournament chances on Saturday afternoon, routing the Bulldogs 78-57 at home.

However, the Tigers only improved to 17-13 with the victory, so their own March Madness hopes aren’t looking so good, either.

After the game, coach Will Wade said he thinks his team belongs in the NIT, but said that once the Tigers get there, he thinks they can make a run at the event’s final four:

The Tigers will be a fierce opponent for whoever they draw in St. Louis at the SEC Tournament, but Wade’s assessment is probably right.

Still, he’s also accurate in his assessment that the Tigers could challenge for the NIT title, which would give his team a great chance to grow heading into the offseason.
