The Maryland Terrapins will reportedly see a former 5-star recruit at linebacker leave the program after 1 year.

According to 247Sports, Terrence Lewis, who didn’t see the field in 2021 thanks to a torn ACL and a shoulder injury suffered prior to the season, has entered the transfer portal. Lewis was one of Mike Locksley’s prized recruits in the 2021 class, ranked as the country’s top linebacker and the Terps’ highest-rated recruit in the cycle.

A native of Miami, Lewis committed to Florida in Jan. 2019 but re-opened his recruitment that April. He would later pledge to Tennessee in Apr. 2020 but de-committed 7 months later, again re-opening his recruitment. Ultimately, Lewis signed with Maryland, enrolling in January.

The Terrapins were 6-6 this year with a 3-6 mark in the Big Ten. They are bowl-eligible for the first time since the 2016 season.
