The U making a comeback? D’Eriq King announces he will return to Miami for another season
Miami’s prospects for the 2021 season just got more interesting as star quarterback D’Eriq King just announced his plans to return for another season.
King transferred into the Hurricane program during the previous offseason after playing the previous four seasons at Houston. King has the option to return next season as the NCAA has granted a free season of eligibility to all players this season, meaning the 2020 season will not count against King’s eligibility.
In his lone season with Miami, King has thrown for 2,570 yards with 22 touchdowns and just five interceptions. He added another 520 rushing yards and four scores on the ground playing in Rhett Lashlee’s offensive system.
This news is all the more interesting when you consider Miami has gone 8-2 on the season — the Hurricanes still have to play in the Cheez-It Bowl against No. 21 Oklahoma State on Dec. 29. before calling it a season — and open the 2021 season against Alabama in Atlanta.
Following this news, it looks like Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide defense will have a real challenge on its hand in the 2021 season opener.
Here is how King officially announced his decision to return next season:
