Shots fired at the SEC? Minnesota QB praises Big Ten for ‘being the conference that actually put player health and safety first’

Tanner Morgan didn’t hold back on this one.

Instead of embracing Justin Fields’ petition to get the Big Ten to reverse course on its decision to cancel the upcoming fall football season, Morgan has gone in a completely different direction and is grateful the conference shut things down.

While many players from the Big Ten, including their parents, are seeking answers from the Big Ten regarding why the season has been canceled, Minnesota’s signal-caller is out here publicly praising the league according to Matt Fortuna of The Athletic.

“Minnesota QB Tanner Morgan on the Big Ten: ‘I commend them for being the conference that actually put player health and safety first, like they said all along.’ Morgan’s sad he can’t play, but praises P.J. Fleck, Kevin Warren, Mark Coyle and school president Joan Gabel by name,” Fortuna shared.

This is an interesting side for Morgan to take, especially since Penn State’s AD has come out on Monday and suggested a vote to cancel the fall season may not have even taken place within the Big Ten.

While actual leaders of the Big Ten are trying to figure out what is going on, Morgan appears happy to sit this one out and wait for the spring — or potentially fall of 2021 — before seeing the field again.
