If it’s not too late and if Mississippi State has room on its roster to take another player, Davontavean Martin transferring to Starkville would make a ton of sense.

Mike Leach has been open to taking transfer players this offseason and considering the state of the receiver position he inherited, not to mention the lack of an offseason to train the current crop of Bulldog pass catchers, adding a player that would slide right into the offensive system without hesitation makes a lot of sense.

Keeping that in mind, Martin, a former Washington State receiver that played the previous three seasons for Leach in Pullman, has entered the NCAA transfer portal according to Adam Rittenberg of ESPN.

During the three previous seasons combined, Martin caught 143 passes for 1,615 yards and 18 touchdowns for Washington State. If immediate playing time is important to Martin, a move to Mississippi State would make sense.

Transferring to Mississippi State would also make sense for Martin if he desires to play closer to home as the rising senior if originally from Houma, La., where he played for Ellender Memorial High School.

He is a video showcasing Martin’s talents on the field.
