Despite win, Mike Leach has harsh words for Mississippi State offense
The Mississippi State offense got several breaks in the win over Vanderbilt on Saturday, starting with five turnovers from the Commodores. The Bulldogs capitalized on them with 14 points scored off those turnovers.
The Bulldogs had 204 yards of total offense in the 24-17 win in Starkville. But the most glaring stat for the MSU offense was a negative 22 yards rushing, which led to some harsh comments for his offense. The Bulldogs were also 4-for-13 on third downs in the win. MSU was also outgained 322-42 in the second half.
Here’s a sampling of coach Mike Leach’s comments after the game:

Leach says it will still be week to week determining his starting quarterback until “one of them jumps out of the charts.” Says he’d like to settle on one, but doesn’t know if it will happen.

Mike Leach on those who think his system won’t work at a place like Mississippi State: “They ought to try it from the coaches’ and players’ standpoint.”
