A former Ole Miss pledge is now officially a Mississippi State Bulldog.

Allen Love, a defensive tackle out of Birmingham, Alabama, shared a note on his Twitter account Thursday evening announcing he is continuing his academic and athletic career at MSU after one season (2018) at Louisville. Love played in only four games for the Cardinals, meaning he was able to redshirt for the season under the new NCAA rules. Whether he’ll have three or four seasons of eligibility for the Bulldogs remains to be seen. Paul Jones of Gene’s Page reported this week that Love is asking the NCAA to grant immediate eligibility due to his mother’s health issues. If granted, he would be available for the 2019 season.

Love , a Huffman product, was an Ole Miss pledge before decommitting on Dec. 11, 2017 and pledging to Louisville on Dec. 14, 2017. He was a 3-star recruit in the class of 2018. On last season’s Cardinals roster, Love was listed at 6-2, 284 pounds. He entered the transfer portal in February with the intent of transferring once completing the spring semester at Louisville. He told Jones that he’ll be enrolling at MSU for summer classes.
